About the Brand

  • Zipp was founded in 1988 by motorsports engineer Leigh Sargent, introducing its first carbon fiber disc wheel. Known for its pioneering aerodynamic research, Zipp was the first to market with dimpled discs and rims, utilizing patented technology to enhance performance in crosswinds. In the early 1990s, Zipp developed the radical "beam" bike, the Zipp 2001, and initially produced mountain bike wheels before shifting focus to high-performance road cycling components. Acquired by SRAM in 2007, Zipp relocated its design and manufacturing facility to Indianapolis in 2010. Today, the brand offers spoked wheels, disc wheels, and a range of high-end cycling components
